Aloha,
I'd like to spread the word for three arts related groups on Oahu that some of you may be interested in.
Comic Jam Hawaii:
[link]Comic Jams are a social get together of local artists (professional, aspiring, and hobbyist). We do collaborative cartoons, illustrations, and sketches while talking story. All abilities levels are welcome, all we ask for is for participants to have fun and join in where they're comfortable. These are very informal get togethers. Drawings are collected at the end of each session and scanned into our Facebook Group page.
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, however we do remain flexible and open to additional get togethers. No registration is necessary. Walk-ins welcome.
Pen & Ink Works:
[link]Meets at Honolulu Museum of Art. We aim to promote the creative visual and literary aspects of manga (Japanese comics) and anime (Japanese animation) as an art form as well as a method of expression for people of all ages and backgrounds. Following in the spirit of the dynamic and diverse nature of manga and anime membership is open to artists of all forms and styles; all that’s required is a passion for creation. We hope to foster this open creativity as well as provide a venue for members to showcase such work.
Mangabento:
[link]MangaBento also meets at Honolulu Musuem of Art. MangaBento is an anything-goes gathering of artists and art lovers. Most of us are interested in Japan and anime/manga and its derivatives: Cosplay, doujinshi, computer art, gaming, etc. We at MangaBento provide a place for artists to share ideas, create work, and learn new skills. We can introduce you to the basic tools and techniques used by artists, but it is up to you to develop and train yourself as an artist.
